Evaluation of prescribed eyeglasses regarding factors that affect user's satisfaction

Abstract. Purpose:To report the current status of eyeglasses made by prescription and its relation to the satisfaction of users. Cases and Method:This study was made on 179 pairs of eyeglasses prescribed by us during the past 4 months. The series comprised 104 pairs for far vision, 35 pairs for near, and 40 pairs with variable focus. Each finished eyeglass was tested for lens distortion, incomplete finish of frame, displaced optical center and eyepoint, lens tilting, and vertex distance. Results:User's satisfaction was low when the eyeglasses had one or more factors as follow:lens with strong distortion, incomplete finish of frame, and displaced optical center or eyepoint(p<0.05). Conclusion:It is advisable to check the finished eyeglasses prescribed by ophthalmologists. User's satisfaction will improve by such measures.
